About The Position
The County of San Diego is seeking a Senior Animal Services Representative to perform specialized clerical and customer service duties at an animal shelter. This role assists the public with information regarding animal control laws, regulations, licensing, rabies control, animal adoptions, and other shelter services. The Department of Animal Services (DAS) is committed to promoting humane and responsible care of companion animals, reducing euthanasia rates, and responding to community needs. DAS serves the unincorporated area of San Diego County with shelters in Carlsbad and Bonita, and is developing a new state-of-the-art animal shelter in Santee.
Requirements
- Two (2) years of full-time experience as an Animal Services Representative with the County of San Diego; OR
- Three (3) years of full-time experience working in a high volume customer service environment equivalent to an Office Assistant with the County of San Diego's Department of Animal Services, one (1) year of which must have been performing at a lead level of responsibility.
- Must pass a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening.
- Must be a disaster service worker.
Responsibilities
- Performs specialized clerical and customer service duties at an animal shelter.
- Assists the public in obtaining information regarding animal control laws, regulations, licensing, rabies control, animal adoptions, and other shelter services.
- Deals with a high volume of individuals, including irate/emotional customers or individuals who have been convicted or are charged with criminal offenses.
- Has peripheral contact and knowledge of sick, injured and deceased animals, as well as the euthanasia of animals.
