About The Position

Join the City of Hesperia’s Animal Services Department as an Animal Services Supervisor and be part of a team driven by service, integrity, innovation, and efficiency. The Animal Services Supervisor is a single class position with overall responsibility for the animal shelter daily operations and services and implementation of programs related to the humane care, treatment, sheltering and adoption of animals. Assignments may include working weekends, holidays, nights, rotating shifts, responding to emergency animal services assignments during off-duty hours, and pre-designated days to provide customer service to the community.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Five (5) years or more of experience in animal care and shelter environment involving care, handling, sheltering and adoption.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid class “C” California driver’s license.
  • Possession of State of California euthanization certificate.
  • Participate with the required City’s Adjusted Workweek Schedule and other assignments, such as working weekends, holidays, nights, rotating shifts, respond to emergency animal services assignments during off-duty hours, and pre-designated days in order to provide customer service to the community.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional coursework or training in animal science, animal behavior, public relations, or related field is desirable.
  • Possession of Registered Veterinary Technician certification in the State of California (When Assigned to Treatment).
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, certification in Animal Behavior or Professional Canine Training within the first twelve (12) months of employment (When Assigned to Care).
