About The Position
Lab49 is seeking a Senior Android Developer to play a critical role on key projects for their clients. In this role, you will work in a collaborative and innovative project team with direct client-facing interactions. You will have the opportunity to apply your skills and expertise to design innovative applications that solve complex problems and enhance performance and productivity at their marquis clients. This is an onsite role requiring 5 days/week in the WTC in NYC.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience designing and building complex, commercial-grade software systems
- Proficiency in Kotlin and experience with native Android development tools such as Jetpack Compose
- Experience in consumer banking including account management and onboarding
- Familiarity with integrating RESTful APIs and third-party libraries
- Experience with agile development methodologies
- Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for mobile applications
- Understanding of mobile UI/UX principles and best practices to create intuitive and engaging user experiences
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice To Haves
- Experience in fraud management/KYC/AML and regulatory reporting
- Experience using on device biometrics for authentication
- A strong portfolio of released applications on the Google Play Store
- Experience with AppConfig community standards and enterprise app distribution
- College degree in Computer Science or related field of study or equivalent experience
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Claude Code, Copilot) to improve team velocity and code quality, and help the team adopt them responsibly
Responsibilities
- Design and build advanced applications for the Android platform utilized in financial services
- Work with team leadership, Product Owners, Designers, and other technologists to create software to be deployed in enterprise and public app stores based on business and technical priorities
- Actively contribute to the adoption of robust software architecture, development and engineering best practices, and the adoption of new technologies
- Break down complex problems into elegant technical solutions to intelligently solve problems for Lab49's clients
- Utilize industry best practices to ensure code quality and robustness including edge cases, usability and general reliability
- Advocate test-driven development and deliver high quality, resilient solutions
- Resolve defects and enhance application performance by analyzing and optimizing code
