Senior Analyst, Subscription Strategy and Revenue

The InformationNew York, NY
$120,000 - $130,000Hybrid

About The Position

At The Information, you will join a high-impact, mission-driven team as our Senior Analyst, Subscription Strategy and Revenue. This role sits at the intersection of financial modeling, customer analytics, and strategic decision-making — translating subscriber behavior into forecasts, insights, and recommendations that directly inform how we grow and retain our audience. Reporting to the SVP, Strategy & Operations, you will be the analytical engine behind our subscription business, partnering closely with Editorial, Product, and Marketing to ensure every investment we make is grounded in rigorous data.

Requirements

  • 3 - 5+ years in subscription analytics, revenue modeling, or a hybrid role that spans both — media, SaaS, tech, e-commerce, or subscription commerce background strongly preferred
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets; comfort building models that others can audit and maintain
  • SQL proficiency required — able to pull, clean, and model data independently without relying on an engineer
  • Solid working knowledge of a modern data warehouse (Snowflake strongly preferred)
  • Experience with BI and visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, Periscope, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Python to automate reporting and pull insights from large datasets
  • Deep commercial intuition around recurring revenue economics: cohort LTV, subscription cycles, net revenue retention, and how operational levers translate into financial outcomes
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling abilities to synthesize financial data into compelling analysis for executive leadership and cross-functional partners

Responsibilities

  • Lead the subscription revenue forecasting end-to-end: build and maintain models that translate subscriber cohort behavior — acquisition, upgrade, downgrade, churn — into financial forecasts and actionable insights
  • Maintain a rolling forecast that updates dynamically as actuals come in, with clear variance analysis explaining what drove differences from forecast
  • Build and maintain a suite of trusted subscription and revenue dashboards that give business leads direct, self-serve visibility into KPI trends — reducing reliance on the data team for routine reporting
  • Monitor and own the KPI suite: subscriber growth, churn rate, LTV, net revenue retention, expansion and upsell rates
  • Identify leading indicators of churn and expansion — behavioral signals that precede financial outcomes — and surface them proactively to business stakeholders
  • Analyze early subscriber habits and cohort performance to inform acquisition strategy and paywall optimization
  • Collaborate with the corporate subscription team to monitor account health and identify opportunities for seat expansion
  • Provide analytical support for special projects, such as analyzing the ROI on new products or content, evaluating promotional periods and pricing tests, or assessing new subscription tiers and price models
  • Monitor traffic and site engagement trends and translate them into projected subscription and revenue impact

Benefits

  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their dependents
  • Medical coverage that includes fertility care and $0 copays for in-office mental health visits with in-network providers
  • Paid parental leave to support and empower new parents
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) that increases with tenure
  • 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) for healthcare and dependent care expenses
  • Fitness and wellness stipend to encourage a healthy lifestyle
  • Monthly cell phone reimbursement
  • Company-sponsored lunches in the office every Monday
  • Commuter benefits
  • A supportive, inclusive, and diverse work environment with a zero-tolerance policy for harassment
