About The Position

TVO is establishing a robust data team to spearhead the organization's transition towards data-driven decision-making. This contract position, reporting to the Manager, Product Management and Data Strategy, will leverage expertise to gather, analyze, and interpret complex data sets from multiple sources to provide actionable insights for strategic decision-making. The role involves creating visualizations to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders, collaborating across departments, understanding and gathering data-related requirements, and contributing to the data roadmap. The Senior Data Analyst will also handle ad hoc requests and spearhead special projects to support organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, market research, communications, mathematics, statistics, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis, providing qualitative and quantitative research findings.
  • Advance SQL Query skill & knowledge of Relational Databases
  • Advanced knowledge of Google Analytics 4 with a focus on creating customized views, dimensions & filters
  • Proficient in Google Tag Manager and advanced implementation of tracking tags
  • Ability to create meaningful visualizations/Dynamic Dashboards using Looker Studio, Google Sheets, MS Excel, and other BI Tools (Power BI, Tableau etc.)
  • Proficiency with Windows-based PC applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in working with large data sets, reconciling multiple datasets to leverage insights.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, keen attention to detail, sharp analytical skills, ability to interpret and, draw insights from data.
  • A business perspective with an ability to work in both technical and business environments is paramount.
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and ad-hoc requests where multi-tasking and prioritization is necessary.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to learn, including the ability to stay current on new developments in data analytics, measurement tools and self-serve options.
  • Ability to develop a business case recommending options for new tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with well-developed presentation, interpersonal and relationship building skills.

  • Work samples around data analysis will be an asset.
  • Experience in the media or ed-tech industry, will be an asset.
  • Broad understanding of customer data platform and its integration to consumer-facing web applications such as emails, customer engagements on web products, web personalization, and various analytic tools will be an asset.
  • Experience working within Agile and Scrum frameworks, will be an asset
  • Basic understanding of working with cloud-based Data Warehouses like AWS Redshift / MS Azure, Google Cloud Platform - Good to have.

Responsibilities

  • Lead building data tracking plans, defining metrics and KPI's, to support stakeholders across the organization.
  • Data mine the proprietary database/data warehouse to extract viewer/user and product information and provide insights.
  • Design and carry out background research, data analytics proposals, sample design, and data instruments.
  • Support organizational needs and contribute to developing objectives, by providing insights and reporting.
  • Oversee management of analytical tools including Google Analytics and other digital data instruments (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Brightcove, etc.).
  • Implement, maintain, and update tracking Tags via Google Tag Manager and work with Customer Data Platforms to build User Segments, liaising with developers.
  • Provide television audience analysis for TVO.
  • Create weekly & monthly dynamic dashboards and visualizations to inform decisions.
  • Track and monitor information from syndicated and proprietary research sources.
  • Analyze behavioral and attitudinal trends in product usage and consumption.
  • Attend meetings with other departments (e.g. Programming, Production, Marketing) to present informative and actionable research findings.
