About The Position

The Corporate Finance & Treasury team prepares quarterly reporting and provides research and analysis to senior executives in support of the Great-West Lifeco’s capital management, cash management, strategic initiatives and mergers & acquisitions opportunities. The role reports to the Director, Corporate Finance & Treasury, and partners with the Corporate Finance & Treasury team on a variety of assignments. The successful candidate will be required to work flexible hours as the work dictates. There is potential to expand the role’s scope based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Requirements

  • Business related post secondary degree or combination of education and directly related experience
  • Four or more years of related experience with progressive growth of accountabilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Experience preparing financial models and compiling financial market data
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience drafting written presentations for senior leadership
  • Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication (written and oral) with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce high quality work within short timelines
  • Ability to grasp concepts quickly and proven multi-tasking abilities

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with Finance/Business valuation designation or partial completion are preferred (i.e., CFA, CBV)
  • Other professional designations are considered assets (CPA, MBA)
  • This is not a traditional accounting role, yet a CPA with a willingness to learn would be strongly considered
  • Working knowledge of Kyriba, Alteryx, Power BI, Multifonds, Bloomberg, SAP, or Capital IQ is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Prepare quarterly and year end analysis to support Corporate Finance & Treasury reporting to senior management, Board of Directors and shareholders
  • Prepare quarterly Lifeco holding company cash reconciliations and projections for review by the Director, Corporate Finance & Treasury
  • Prepare quarterly dividend and cash flow plans for Canadian and US banking and treasury teams
  • Assist with the implementation of the Company’s treasury management system and use the system to prepare cash flow forecasts on an ongoing basis
  • Support financial modeling related to Lifeco’s long-term incentive programs and the associated cash flow and economic hedges
  • Review and update Corporate Finance & Treasury procedures and model documentation at least annually or as required
  • Conduct industry research and prepare competitor analysis for both domestic and international companies
  • Prepare public company comparable trading analysis and precedent transactions analysis for the Company’s key geographies and lines of business
  • Support the team in its work with global finance teams on various projects including internal and external business valuations, global mergers and acquisitions, internal reorganizations and impairment testing
  • Support the Director, Corporate Finance & Treasury with capital planning analysis and administration associated with the issuance and redemption of capital securities and dividend recommendations
  • Provide additional financial modelling and analysis support for other Corporate Finance & Treasury projects as required
