About The Position

Procore Technologies is hiring a Senior AI Platform Engineer, MCP & Connectors for its AI & Atlassian Engineering team within IT Infrastructure & Operations. The role designs, builds, deploys, and operates Model Context Protocol (MCP) connectors that securely link Claude with Procore business systems and internal services. The engineer partners with the Platform & AI Architect, AI Platform Administrator, Security, GRC, and business system owners to deliver reliable integrations as part of an enterprise Claude rollout. The role owns production MCP servers after initial development handoffs, including ongoing iteration, versioning, documentation, releases, incident resolution, and shared on-call responsibilities. It also supports the AI builder program through GitHub repositories, hosting infrastructure, secrets management, SSO integration, and operational reporting. The position is based in Procore’s Austin, Texas office and follows a hybrid work schedule. It reports to the Senior Manager, AI & Atlassian Engineering.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional backend software or integration engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of scalable, high-reliability production services.
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying at least one production MCP server or substantial MCP integration beyond demo environments.
  • Strong programming proficiency in Python or TypeScript/Node.js, with the ability to contribute effectively across both environments.
  • Deep technical expertise in REST APIs, JSON schema validation, and asynchronous processing.
  • Hands-on experience implementing OAuth flows, access scopes, and secrets management.
  • Track record deploying cloud services through automated CI/CD pipelines with monitoring, alerting, and strategies for partial failures and upstream API changes.
  • Experience establishing an enterprise integration or connector program from the ground up and translating complex business processes into focused technical specifications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent practical work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Claude API capabilities, tool calling, Claude Agent SDK, Claude Code, or modern observability tooling such as OpenTelemetry.
  • Background as a backend software engineer with production experience in LLM tooling, agent protocols, or MCP implementations.
  • Background as an enterprise integration engineer or middleware developer specializing in SaaS API orchestration, such as Salesforce, Workday, or NetSuite.
  • Background as a cloud platform engineer or systems engineer focused on internal developer infrastructure and automated delivery pipelines.
  • Background as an AI platform engineer bridging foundation models with enterprise data pipelines and secure API gateways.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain custom MCP servers and connectors linking Claude to enterprise platforms such as Salesforce, Zuora, NetSuite, Databricks, and Workday.
  • Own production MCP servers, leading continued iteration, versioning, and technical documentation after development handoffs.
  • Evaluate third-party and vendor-provided connectors against Procore’s architectural requirements and recommend configuring, extending, or building solutions.
  • Implement authentication and authorization frameworks, including OAuth flows, scoped access, token validation, credential rotation, and secret storage, while preserving source-system permissions and tenant boundaries.
  • Define tool interfaces, input schemas, and validation rules; separate read and write capabilities and enforce approval paths for consequential actions.
  • Build automated test suites and observability pipelines for API contracts, authorization rules, availability, latency, failure recovery, and downstream dependencies.
  • Build and maintain GitHub repositories, hosting infrastructure, secrets management, and SSO integration supporting the AI builder program, and stream operational data into central reporting pipelines.
  • Manage integration releases, rollback procedures, and incident resolution; participate in shared on-call duties.
  • Keep current with updates to MCP specifications, Claude APIs, and connected systems.
