About The Position

Zscaler is seeking a Senior AI-Native Designer & Builder, Design System to help evolve its design ecosystem and ensure consistency, scalability, and excellence across products. The role uses modern AI-powered design and developer tools to design, build, and iterate quickly, with AI incorporated as a regular part of the design workflow. The designer will help establish visual, interaction, and structural standards for Zscaler product surfaces in close collaboration with Design, Engineering, and cross-functional product teams. The position is hybrid, with three days per week at Zscaler’s Santa Clara headquarters, and reports to the Sr Manager, Design System in the Product Management department. The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, supporting the adoption and continued development of the design system across product teams.

Requirements

At least 6 years of Product/UX Design experience.
At least 1–2 years of dedicated contribution to a multi-product design system.
Proven experience integrating AI assistants or modern generation and prototyping tools into daily design and development workflows to accelerate outcomes and build interactive layouts.
Demonstrated expertise in systematic component architecture, including how components form larger patterns, templates, and full applications.
Familiarity with accessibility frameworks such as WCAG 2.1/2.2 and designing responsive structural layouts.
Strong collaboration skills and experience educating and guiding designers in using systematic guidelines and structured grids.

Nice To Haves

Ability to leverage AI technologies and workflows to drive measurable operational efficiency.
Literacy in modern frontend technologies such as React, CSS/HTML, token-driven theming, or JSON properties, enabling inspection and discussion of code structures with developers.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude to generate, customize, or preview coded components.
Experience designing systems for cybersecurity, infrastructure, developer tools, or other highly technical and complex domains.

Responsibilities

Design, architect, and refine reusable components and interaction patterns, with a focus on robust structural relationships and scalability.
Write component specifications, usage guidelines, and standards, using AI to accelerate drafting and maintain comprehensive documentation.
Use modern AI-powered design and developer tools to build live prototypes, validate architectural feasibility, and accelerate production implementation.
Partner with UI engineers to align design intent with web technologies and ensure component structures are responsive, accessible, and easy to consume.
Support product design teams in adopting the design system, applying component architecture principles, and troubleshooting complex layouts.
Collaborate with Design, Engineering, and cross-functional product teams to set visual, interaction, and structural standards across product surfaces.
