About The Position

TRM Labs is hiring a Senior AI Engineer to serve as an embedded AI automation engineer for Product. The role builds agents, automations, and applications that help Product, Product Marketing, and Design work more efficiently, collaborating directly with those teams and with Engineering throughout the product lifecycle, from discovery through launch and adoption. The engineer is embedded with the teams they support rather than working from a ticket queue. The work includes moving repetitive manual tasks into agents and automations, giving teams direct access to customer insights and supporting data, and delivering agentic solutions that teams adopt and use. The engineer also builds reusable, maintained components, prototypes ideas quickly, and makes same-day production improvements to shared agents and applications. The role has high ownership and ambiguity: the engineer sets priorities and owns problems end to end, with little direction. AI Automation Engineering is the engineering home for internal tools and agents. The role stays connected to Engineering for standards, code review, and shared infrastructure. The team is globally distributed, fully remote, and async-first, and works closely with Product, Product Marketing, and Design. The schedule calls for roughly six hours of overlap with a stated 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Pacific Time window; the required-hours section also lists 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Central Time. The posting states there is no travel, onsite work, or on-call duty.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering skills in Python or TypeScript, with experience shipping production code.
  • Very high AI fluency and daily use of AI; experience building agentic solutions with current frontier models, including MCP, retrieval, evaluations, and observability.
  • Ability to demonstrate an AI solution or other relevant work that you have built.
  • Experience gathering requirements from non-engineers and identifying the underlying need.
  • Sound judgment about when AI adds value and when it does not.
  • Experience building solutions that non-technical teams adopted and continued using.
  • Daily use of AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor.
  • Senior-level ownership of problems end to end, requiring little direction and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Ability to work with roughly six hours of overlap with the stated 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Build agents, automations, and applications for Product, Product Marketing, and Design teams across the product lifecycle, from discovery through launch and adoption.
  • Move repetitive manual work into agents and automations so teams can focus on judgment and customer work.
  • Build tools that provide teams direct access to customer insights and the data behind them.
  • Deliver agentic solutions that non-technical teams adopt and continue using.
  • Create reusable, maintained components so future builds are faster and teams avoid duplicating existing work.
  • Turn rough ideas into working prototypes within hours.
  • Ship same-day production improvements to shared agents and applications in response to user problems.
  • Own problems end to end and set priorities in an ambiguous, high-ownership environment.
  • Stay connected with Engineering on standards, code review, and shared infrastructure.
  • Communicate asynchronously through Slack and written documentation and collaborate with embedded teams.
