About The Position

Capgemini Engineering, a global leader in engineering services, brings together a team of engineers, scientists, and architects to help innovative companies unleash their potential. Our digital and software technology experts provide unique R&D and engineering services across all industries. Capgemini Engineering is seeking a Senior Aerodynamics/CFD Engineer with a focus on simulating airflow around aircraft designs and engines to optimize performance, handling, and safety. In this role, you will utilize computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software to analyze aerodynamic behavior, generate aerodynamic models, and provide data for various stages of aircraft and engine development. Key skills required include expertise in CFD software, meshing, data analysis, and a strong understanding of aerodynamics and flight dynamics.

Requirements

  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience.
  • A degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with a specialization in aerodynamics.
  • Proficiency in CFD software, meshing techniques, and turbulence modelling.
  • Strong understanding of aerodynamic principles, flight mechanics, and aircraft performance.
  • Ability to analyse, interpret, and present CFD results effectively.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately to follow client needs.
  • Communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Team player, able to work effectively and to short timescales with others in a busy environment.
  • Proactive attitude and ability to communicate and report at different levels.
  • Excellent communication skills with a good level of verbal and written English.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of programming languages like Python, MATLAB, or similar for data analysis and automation.
  • Working knowledge of Unix.

Responsibilities

  • Working with 3D CAD models (e.g., 3DX, CATIA, SolidWorks) to prepare geometries for CFD simulations.
  • Preparing CFD meshes (e.g., Fluent Meshing, ICEM CFD, ANSA or CADfix).
  • Using CFD software (like TAU, CODA, elsA, Ansys Fluent, OpenFOAM, STAR-CCM+) to simulate airflow, generate meshes, and analyse aerodynamic performance.
  • Post-processing the CFD solutions (e.g., python scripts, Tecplot, Paraview).
  • Creating aerodynamic models and databases based on CFD and experimental data (wind tunnel, flight tests).
  • Contributing to the optimization of aircraft designs by analysing aerodynamic behaviour and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Analysing CFD results, extracting insights, and presenting findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead junior engineers within the team to integrate CFD results and contribute to the overall completion of the project.
  • Write and approve technical reports.
  • Maintain direct working relationships with clients, team members and represent your work during client meetings.

Benefits

  • Paid time off based on employee grade (A-F), defined by policy: Vacation: 12-25 days, depending on grade, Company paid holidays, Personal Days, Sick Leave.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage (or provincial healthcare coordination in Canada).
  • Retirement savings plans (e.g., 401(k) in the U.S., RRSP in Canada).
  • Life and disability insurance.
  • Employee assistance programs.
  • Other benefits as provided by local policy and eligibility.
