About The Position

The Senior Advisor for Sustainable Resources will support the efforts of the client in fostering programs, initiatives, partnerships, and trust funds focused on natural resource management, land use, combatting wildlife trafficking, and addressing related global environmental challenges. Under the supervision of senior officers, the incumbent will engage with multi-sector stakeholders, advancing U.S. policy priorities, and implementing foreign assistance programs. This role requires strong skills in international negotiations, project management, and strategic policy development. MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE.

Requirements

A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in natural resource management, environmental policy, or international negotiations.
Advanced degree in public policy, economics, law, environmental studies, or a related field.
Practical experience in international negotiations, programs, and initiatives related to deforestation, forest degradation, illegal logging, and land degradation.
Familiarity with natural resource, forest, and land use management, policy, and financing frameworks.
Comprehensive knowledge of international standards and relevant platforms addressing resource management and conservation.
Familiarity with major geographic regions, such as the Amazon, Congo Basin, and Southeast Asia.
Secret Security Clearance is required.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Must be able to pass a background check.
May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
Strong program management, international negotiation, and strategic planning abilities.
Outstanding interpersonal and oral communication skills, with significant experience working with diverse stakeholders such as policymakers, foreign government representatives, NGOs, and private sector entities.
Exceptional written communication skills, with a proven ability to produce clear and compelling documents.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a reliable and effective member of a team.
Excellent organizational skills and follow-through, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Capability to effectively navigate a complex organizational structure and manage multiple internal and external relationships.
Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Responsibilities

Support client participation in initiatives related to natural resource management, including land use, invasive species, illegal logging, and combatting wildlife trafficking.
Provide oversight and representational responsibilities for aligned U.S. government initiatives and partnerships, utilizing a focus on private sector-led approaches and commercial diplomacy.
Advance client policy implementation in natural resource management and related areas, emphasizing collaboration with international partners and commercial enterprises.
Develop and propose implementation strategies for priority geographic areas, including the Amazon, Congo Basin, and Southeast Asia.
Craft proposals to shape programs and align funding allocation to promote U.S. objectives.
Support U.S. participation in relevant international engagements and negotiations, leveraging platforms to advocate for client’s interests in natural resource management and environmental conservation.
Assist with designing, implementing, and monitoring foreign assistance programs, including cooperative agreements, grants, contracts, and interagency agreements, to achieve tangible results in key areas of environmental conservation and resource management.
Draft high-quality memos, correspondence, speeches, decision memoranda, position papers, talking points, and meeting summaries to advance U.S. policies and strategies.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including government representatives, policymakers, and private sector or non-governmental partners, ensuring alignment with objectives.
