About The Position

The Senior Advisor for Sustainable Resources will contribute to the development, coordination, and implementation of international climate change policies and programs. This role will bring extensive expertise in international negotiations, climate finance, sustainable landscapes, and reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+), as well as strong written and verbal communication skills and proven project management capabilities. MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE.

Requirements

A minimum of five years of relevant experience and an advanced degree in a related field (e.g., public policy, economics, law, environmental studies).
Proven experience in international negotiations, projects, and/or programs, particularly in sustainable landscapes and REDD+ areas.
Familiarity with REDD+ and sustainable landscapes policy and financing mechanisms.
Expertise in major REDD+ and sustainable landscapes partnerships such as the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility and Initiative for Sustainable Forest Landscapes.
Knowledge of UNFCCC negotiations, especially the current state of play in ongoing discussions.
Experience with international forest and land use platforms, such as the Tropical Forest Alliance and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, including public-private partnerships.
Strong project and program management capabilities, coupled with strategic planning expertise.
A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse array of stakeholders, including policymakers, representatives of various governments, businesses, and non-governmental organizations.
A quick learner who can navigate complex organizational structures and maintain productive relationships across teams.
A proactive team player willing to address and resolve challenges as they arise.
Secret Security Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

Support client’s engagement in programs, global partnerships, and trust funds focused on sustainable landscapes, climate finance, mitigation strategies, and carbon markets.
Represent clients’ interests in governance bodies, contributing to oversight and policy development.
Help formulate and implement strategies to address international climate change and related issues, including areas such as REDD+, agriculture, nationally determined contributions (NDCs), mid-century strategies, climate finance, and market mechanisms.
Develop country ambition and implementation strategies for priority countries, particularly those in the Amazon, Congo Basin, and Southeast Asia, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Design and shape international and bilateral climate-related programs to ensure that funding is effectively utilized to advance strategic objectives.
Provide support in representing organizational interests in UNFCCC negotiations and other relevant international forums aimed at advancing climate-related objectives.
Support the operationalization and monitoring of climate-related foreign assistance programs, with emphasis on producing measurable results in sustainable landscapes, REDD+, climate-smart agriculture, and carbon market initiatives.
Prepare high-quality memos, speeches, position papers, decision memoranda, talking points, meeting summaries, correspondence, and other communications essential to advancing climate policies and strategies.
