Senior Advisor Operations Risk Assessment
About The Position
MISO is hiring a Senior Advisor Operations Risk Assessment to serve as its lead subject-matter expert on how natural gas supply and transportation conditions affect electric reliability. The role translates gas and fuel information into operator awareness, risk indicators, and assessments of current conditions, and represents MISO in gas-electric discussions with pipelines, generators, and regulators. The position includes conducting and translating winter survey results and presenting at seasonal readiness workshops. Success includes communicating effectively with peers and cohorts, fostering collaboration, appropriately identifying and quantifying risk to support unit commitment decisions, and translating complex technical information for non-technical audiences. MISO manages the electricity grid and energy market in the Central U.S., serving 45 million people through grid operations, market management, and planning.
Requirements
- 7–10 years of experience in natural gas pipeline operations, gas control, gas scheduling or transportation, generation fuel procurement, or RSO/ITO/utility operations with direct responsibility over gas-fired operations.
- Technical leadership and working knowledge of the gas-electric interface and how pipeline constraints translate into generator availability and reliability.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, energy systems, economics, finance, mathematics, or a related field.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
