About The Position

This role is for an individual applicant residing in the US only. As the first point of contact for new Uplinq clients after signing, you will guide them through the setup process and ensure their account goes live. This involves cleaning up provided data and requesting any missing information. The client portfolio is large and dynamic, with clients at various onboarding stages simultaneously. You will need to manage multiple timelines effectively and proactively communicate any potential delays. This is a senior position within the onboarding team, requiring a candidate with exceptional interpersonal skills who can quickly build rapport with nervous business owners and leave a lasting positive impression. The ideal candidate is smart, savvy, memorable, and passionate about helping small businesses succeed.

Requirements

6+ years in a client-facing accounting or onboarding role, at Senior Associate level or above in a public or multi-client accounting firm.
6+ years of daily QuickBooks Online usage, including setup, integrations, and troubleshooting (desktop-only experience is insufficient).
Deep technical accounting knowledge, including strong working knowledge of cash and accrual accounting.
Experience reviewing or overseeing the work of other accountants, formally or informally.
Proven ability to manage 25+ active client relationships simultaneously, with a track record of early escalation for at-risk accounts and adaptability to changing plans.
Demonstrated ability to build rapport quickly with clients and calm anxious business owners during initial calls.
Comfortable directly informing clients about scope mismatches and admitting personal errors.
Experience recognizing and raising with clients when they require more services than initially purchased.

Responsibilities

Conduct daily client meetings to gather financial data and define project scope.
Build client trust through accurate accounting, engaging communication, clear explanations, and reliable follow-through.
Set up and configure Uplinq and QuickBooks Online accounts, including resolving integration and access issues (e.g., Plaid connections, payroll, revenue processors, inventory systems) to ensure clean data synchronization from the start.
Compare signed proposals with client-stated needs during initial calls, flagging any scope or pricing mismatches to Sales, management, and the client promptly.
Manage a high volume of onboarding timelines and deliverables concurrently, alerting management to potential workload or account delays early enough for intervention.
Retrieve necessary documents from clients who become unresponsive or resistant, employing multiple communication approaches beyond a single polite email.
Troubleshoot technical accounting setup and data issues with strong accounting judgment, admitting and correcting errors quickly.
Handle complex accounting issues for the messiest books during onboarding, including those escalated by junior specialists.
Develop workarounds for onboarding delays, such as manual data entry for broken feeds or finding alternative document retrieval methods, to ensure timely client solutions.
Review the work of junior Onboarding Specialists before client delivery, providing specific feedback for improvement.
Serve as a resource for junior specialists, addressing problems before they impact clients.
Delegate appropriate onboarding tasks while retaining accountability for the overall outcome.
Identify when clients require services beyond their initial agreement and recommend additional Uplinq services where appropriate.
Collaborate with Sales, Initialization, Accounting, and Tax departments to bridge handoff gaps, owning your part of the process from beginning to end and ensuring a smooth account transition post-onboarding.
