About The Position

Community Action Partnership of Lancaster and Saunders Counties is looking for a Senior Accounting Coordinator for grants and contracts. This is the person who stands between complex federal grant rules and the programs that depend on them, and makes sure the money is right. If you know nonprofit grant accounting well enough to walk in and go, and you like knowing your precision is what keeps the work funded, keep reading.

Requirements

  • You have worked with grant or fund accounting in a nonprofit or similar setting, and federal grant compliance is familiar ground, not a foreign language.
  • You read nonprofit financial statements comfortably, reconcile and post accurately, and your Excel is genuinely strong.
  • You can follow directions, then run independently, carrying several grant deadlines at once without letting a detail slip.
  • You protect the confidentiality and validity of fiscal and client data as a matter of habit.
  • You can explain a grant requirement to a program manager without making their eyes glaze over, and you work well across a team.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree or coursework in accounting or a related field is preferred, along with experience in nonprofit grants and accounting.
  • Knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance and MIP accounting software is a real plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own the grant money: You research and interpret federal, state, local, and private grant regulations, ensure we remain compliant with Uniform Guidance, and perform grant drawdowns accurately and on time.
  • Build the budgets and reports: You lead the creation of grant budgets and financial narratives for applications, and prepare the financial reports that funders rely on.
  • Watch the contracts: You create, interpret, and monitor program and agency contracts, and you ensure delegates and contractors comply with the rules.
  • Keep the books clean: You reconcile general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, and keep an eye on daily AP, AR, and GL activity.
  • Stand up at audit time: You gather audit data, prepare workpapers, and help the CFO and Senior Accountant build the agency budget.
  • Make it better: You spot the clunky process and improve it, and you cross-train with peers so the team never has a single point of failure.
