About The Position

The Aerospace Corporation is looking for a Senior Accountant / Analyst (Staff III or Staff IV) to join our General Accounting team. In this role, you will be responsible for general ledger accounting activities including executing month-end close processes, journal entries, and account reconciliations. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time on-site at our campus facility in El Segundo, California.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related technical discipline is required
  • Four or more years of increasingly responsible and relevant professional experience in the Accounting field (for Staff III)
  • Seven or more years of increasingly responsible and relevant professional experience in the Accounting field (for Staff IV)
  • Experience with month-end close processes and general ledger accounting
  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
  • Experience preparing account reconciliations and journal entries
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Position requires working a standard 5-day schedule from mid-September to mid-December and occasionally working more than standard working hours during month-end and fiscal year-end closes and the year-end corporate audit
  • Demonstrated experience leading and/or implementing new accounting processes or systems (for Staff IV)

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification with hands-on public accounting experience
  • Advanced degree/MBA
  • Experience with government contract accounting regulations, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
  • Expertise in leveraging advanced Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, and PivotTables
  • A strong passion for data analysis and dashboard reporting

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries, account reclassifications, and cost transfers
  • Execute and monitor month-end settlement processes in SAP
  • Verify project costs are accurately settled to fixed assets
  • Prepare detailed account analyses and reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts
  • Maintain supporting documentation for general ledger transactions
  • Provide responsive support to business unit finance managers on cost transfers, GL reclassifications, and settlement error resolution
  • Interface with internal and external auditors; provide requested schedules and documentation
  • Assist with special projects and ad-hoc analyses as needed
