About The Position
The Aerospace Corporation is looking for a Senior Accountant / Analyst (Staff III or Staff IV) to join our General Accounting team. In this role, you will be responsible for general ledger accounting activities including executing month-end close processes, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Bring your seasoned accounting expertise and do your best work at Aerospace! We are looking for a team-oriented, self-starter to join us! The selected candidate will be required to work full-time on-site at our campus facility in El Segundo, California.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related technical discipline is required
- Four or more years of increasingly responsible and relevant professional experience in the Accounting field (for Staff III)
- Seven or more years of increasingly responsible and relevant professional experience in the Accounting field (for Staff IV)
- Experience with month-end close processes and general ledger accounting
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Experience preparing account reconciliations and journal entries
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
- Position requires working a standard 5-day schedule from mid-September to mid-December and occasionally working more than standard working hours during month-end and fiscal year-end closes and the year-end corporate audit
- Demonstrated experience leading and/or implementing new accounting processes or systems (for Staff IV)
Nice To Haves
- CPA certification with hands-on public accounting experience
- Advanced degree/MBA
- Experience with government contract accounting regulations, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
- Expertise in leveraging advanced Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, and PivotTables
- A strong passion for data analysis and dashboard reporting
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries, account reclassifications, and cost transfers
- Execute and monitor month-end settlement processes in SAP
- Verify project costs are accurately settled to fixed assets
- Prepare detailed account analyses and reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts
- Maintain supporting documentation for general ledger transactions
- Provide responsive support to business unit finance managers on cost transfers, GL reclassifications, and settlement error resolution
- Interface with internal and external auditors; provide requested schedules and documentation
- Assist with special projects and ad-hoc analyses as needed
