About The Position

Join us at Christian Brothers Services, where our mission is to support and serve the Catholic Church and its ministries across the nation. Our Consulting NY division has a full-time opening for a highly skilled Senior Accountant. This position is responsible for procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper financial records and adequate accounting controls and services, includes preparing financial analyses; preparing accurate and timely interim and annual financial statements. Serve in management capacity in client’s finance office in positions titled Director of Finance and/or CFO. From its inception in 1972, NY Consulting Solutions has served over 240 religious institutes and their sponsored ministries with Finance Office Staffing & Support, Financial Management & Accounting, Government Benefit Eligibility Management, Long Term Planning, and Special Projects.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related field
Proven work experience in accounting or a related field; minimum ten years.
Evidence of progressive work related responsibilities and/or promotions
Understand applicable laws and regulations.
Understand economic principles and financial markets
Understand financial data, analysis and reporting.
Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills.
Proven experience in financial project management
Advanced computer skills, specifically in Excel and QuickBooks
Must be able to communicate financial information into business language so people of all levels can understand.
Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality in all client related and CBS/Consulting matters.
Willingness to learn terminology related to religious institutes and the Catholic Church

Nice To Haves

Occasional overnight stays is preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain internal control guidelines, policies and procedures for budgets, accounting, cash and financial administration and other related activities.
Maintain general ledgers through preparation of monthly journal entries.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements
Establish and maintain financial controls within the accounting department.
Prepare and present financial reports
Participate in the budget process
Provide support to management in financial matters
Create reports that assist client leadership complete their financial responsibilities
Supervise the accounting office staff
