About The Position

This role will serve as the Senior Accountant for a portfolio of multifamily and land development entities. The role is responsible for producing timely and accurate financial information and will work in close collaboration with the third-party property management company and internal teams throughout the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • A minimum of three to five years relevant experience
  • Strong GAAP knowledge
  • Intermediate Excel skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the monthly close process for assigned entities.
  • Identify reconciling items, research and explain variances and take action to resolve open items.
  • Prepare and review monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP for both internal and external reporting for assigned entities. Ensure accuracy, clarity, and professionalism.
  • Reconcile bank statements.
  • Maintain monthly rolling 60-month cashflow forecasts for assigned entities.
  • Forecast significant cash transactions such as distributions, contributions, loans and dispositions.
  • Align with Asset Managers and Land Development teams on projections.
  • Maintain fixed asset records for assigned entities.
  • Review and approve invoices and process weekly check runs.
  • Manage cash balances to ensure sufficient cash is available to meet all obligations in a timely manner.
  • Process debt service payments on time through the debt service module.
  • Prepare accurate budgets annually.
  • Understand the operating agreements for each assigned entity regarding contributions, distributions and allocations of profits and losses.
  • Account for equity transactions and maintain waterfalls for all assigned entities.
  • Calculate and process distributions and contributions.
  • Reconcile equity activity between related entities such as equity pick-ups and investments in subsidiaries.
  • Work with land development team to track development costs and cost basis of land.
  • Prepare analysis and JEs for land sales or contributions.
  • Prepare support for tax return preparation and collaborate with outside CPA firm on preparation of tax returns.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support the annual audit process for entities with audit requirements.
  • Participate in special projects to improve accounting department operational efficiency and to improve policies and procedures.
