About The Position

The Senior Accountant will be a strategic contributor to the finance department. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a staff accountant role.
  • Proficient in accounting software; Sage experience preferred.
  • Solid understanding of general ledger functions and financial reporting.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial reporting requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Previous experience within a legal or professional services environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all transactions.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with company policies.
  • Assist in leading the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Review reconciliations for key accounts, such as cash, fixed assets, and accruals, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
  • Assist in gathering information for the annual budget and provide input for financial forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Provide necessary documentation to management during audits.
  • Provide management with necessary information for external accounting firm to file of federal, state, and local tax returns and property tax, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Evaluate and improve processes, identifying areas for efficiency and accuracy improvements in accounting practices.
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status to provide management with insights for decision-making.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting staff, supporting their development and assisting with complex tasks.
  • Ad hoc responsibilities as needed.
