About The Position

As a member of Abbott’s Corporate Finance Services organization, the candidate will be responsible for financial accounting and reporting in Abbott’s Medical Devices division. Position requires an in-depth understanding of accounting and operational aspects of finance and accounting systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance and/or Business.
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting with positions of increasing responsibility.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, and data analysis required
  • Ability to work independently, ability to lead projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification preferred, not required.
  • Prior experience in a large company Shared Services environment or cross-division business unit model preferred.
  • Experience with working large ERP systems, SAP and HFM preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a variety of complex month-end closing activities, including journal entry preparation, account analysis, intercompany transactions, payroll analysis, account reconciliations, and month-end consolidations.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX, internal controls, Abbott Corporate and division/department specific policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with FP&A, other accounting colleagues, as well as Third Party Service providers to execute the financial close, provide guidance, and work together to improve processes
  • Ability to identify opportunities for process improvements and lead efforts to implement process changes
  • Operate independently, be flexible in an environment with evolving and changing business processes
  • Participate in projects and initiatives related to existing or new processes/implementations as needed.
  • Complete external and internal audit requests, Sox requests, tax requests as well as ad-hoc requests from other parts of the organization
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management.
