About The Position

The General Ledger department is responsible for the review of all related financial statements for certain assigned divisions of the Casino and Resort. The Senior Accountant's role involves reviewing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by Staff Accountants, ensuring their accuracy, and providing assistance with questions or problems. Additionally, the Senior Accountant reviews the trial balance and associated financial statements for specific divisions of the Casino Resort and prepares adjusting journal entries to correct any incorrect accounting entries.

Requirements

  • Requires a College Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business related field
  • Experience with fixed assets, prepaid account amortization schedules and various expense accruals, such as payroll and accounts payable
  • Candidates must have intermediate skills with 10-key, MS Office, G/L financial system applications
  • The ability to read, write and speak English professionally is required
  • Professional appearance and demeanor required
  • Candidates must be a strong team player but also able to work independently to complete assigned workload and tasks
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of accounting experience preferred
  • Experience in PeopleSoft preferred

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the Staff Accountants
  • Checking Staff Accountants' work for accuracy and assisting them with questions and/or problems
  • Reviews the trial balance and related financial statements for certain assigned divisions of the Casino Resort
  • Preparing adjusting journal entries correcting incorrect accounting entries
