About The Position

The Senior Accountant will oversee weekly accounting activities, manage construction draws, maintain cost codes, job cost reporting, and GL accuracy within QuickBooks. This role involves preparing and reviewing month-end and year-end close entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and analyzing financial results. The Senior Accountant will also prepare schedules for annual audits, serve as the primary contact with external auditors, and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies. Additionally, the position requires documenting accounting policies and SOPs, identifying process improvements, recommending system enhancements, assisting with weekly forecasts, and supporting special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis. The role also involves providing guidance and informal supervision to staff accountants.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 3-5 years of related senior level accounting experience.
  • Proficient with Excel including the use of pivot tables and VLOOKUP
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and meet the driver safety policy requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of internal or external hands-on audit experience is helpful
  • Candidates with a “Go All In” attitude willing to learn and go the extra mile will be considered in place of other competencies.
  • Experience supervising staff accountants is helpful.
  • Experience with QuickBooks for Real Estate a plus.
  • Experience in Real Estate or homebuilding is desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee weekly accounting activities, including payables review.
  • Manage construction draws, and the related workflow.
  • Maintain cost codes, job cost reporting, and GL accuracy within QuickBooks.
  • Prepare and review month‑end and year‑end close entries, including accruals and adjustments.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.
  • Analyze financial results and provide meaningful explanations to management.
  • Prepare schedules and reconciliations for annual audits.
  • Serve as primary contact with external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Prepare reconciliation of GL accounts.
  • Record journal entries and follow up on the clearing of reconciling items.
  • Document accounting policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen controls.
  • Recommend and help implement system and workflow improvements.
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly forecast.
  • Support special projects and ad‑hoc financial analysis as assigned.
  • Provide guidance and informal supervision to staff accountants as needed.
