About The Position

FSSI, a leading document outsourcing company with over 45 years of experience servicing Fortune 500 companies in the financial, banking, insurance, and billing industries across the U.S., is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant. This role is based in Santa Ana, CA, and requires strong technical accounting expertise and a highly analytical, systems-savvy mindset. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for core accounting functions, including account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, audit support, and financial report preparation. The ideal candidate is a proactive, curious, and hands-on accountant who is comfortable using technology to enhance processes and reporting. This position may also provide guidance to accounting staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Minimum 4 or more years’ work experience in accounting.
  • NetSuite experience required.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g. Pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate with all levels of management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow tasks through to completion.
  • Curious mindset with a desire to understand the "why” behind the numbers.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communicator who is able to collaborate across departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing or cost accounting exposure and experience preferred.
  • Nexus sales tax experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with FSSI's established accounting policies while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and controls.
  • Consistently demonstrate ownership of monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Prepare month-end closing journal entries.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statement package.
  • Partner with department leaders to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Analyze financial results and identify trends.
  • Ensure accuracy of fixed asset system, which includes reconciliation to general ledger and monthly recording of depreciation expense.
  • Provide guidance and support for accounts payable & accounts receivable functions, as needed.
  • Assist with all external audits.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
