About The Position

The City of Brentwood is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative Senior Accountant to join its Finance Department. This role is crucial in managing the City's financial resources, including budgeting, financial planning, accounting, revenue management, and overall financial administration. The Senior Accountant will assist with internal and external financial reporting, ensure accurate recording of financial transactions, and support the annual budgeting process and the development of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). Reporting to the Assistant Finance Director/City Treasurer, this position offers a mix of routine and challenging work within a supportive team environment.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related area required.
Considerable experience in local governmental accounting activities, auditing, or related areas.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
CMFO designation required or ability to obtain within 18 months of employment.

Responsibilities

Assists with annual audit and preparation of financial statements.
Oversees fixed asset policy and procedures.
Maintains general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
Prepares and reviews bank reconciliations.
Oversees payroll to general ledger process ensuring timely and accurate general ledger balances.
