About The Position

Our client, a well-established manufacturing company based in Monrovia, California, is seeking a Senior Accountant for a temp to perm engagement. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a fast paced, production driven environment and is ready to contribute from day one. The opportunity has potential to not only to convert to a direct hire employee, but also to grow into an Accounting Manager. The Senior Accountant will support the accounting team with month end close, general ledger management, cost accounting, and reporting for a manufacturing operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail oriented professional looking to gain or expand manufacturing accounting experience while providing immediate value to the finance function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with manufacturing or cost accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, standard costing, and inventory accounting principles
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (such as NetSuite, SAP, Epicor, or similar) and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt quickly within a contract engagement
  • Clear communication skills and comfort collaborating cross functionally with plant and finance teams

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or progress toward CPA a plus, though not required

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations for month end and year end close
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
  • Support standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis specific to a manufacturing environment
  • Reconcile bank accounts, intercompany accounts, and balance sheet schedules
  • Assist with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports and schedules for management review
  • Support internal and external audit requests with documentation and analysis
  • Partner with operations, purchasing, and plant personnel to ensure accurate cost and inventory reporting
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to strengthen internal controls and close efficiency
  • Responsible for other tasks as assigned by Accounting Manager and/or CFO
