The Senior Accountant works with a high degree of independence in performing accounting and financial activities for the company. The role requires strong analytic and reasoning skills in order to determine the best outcome when faced with uncertainty. The person will apply generally accepted principles of accounting to analyze financial information and will be responsible for making the requisite journal entries and preparing account reconciliations in order to be able to prepare accurate and complete financial statements.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • Advanced experience with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles.
  • 5+ years experience in Accounting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with a high level of difficulty.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure completion of the daily sales update process by identifying, investigating, and resolving processing errors; correct root causes to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with the Tax team to allocate costs and taxes related to sponsorship products, corporate overhead, and other expenses based on appropriate consumption methodologies.
  • Review and analyze weekly credit reports and no-charge reports; prepare and post necessary adjustments to ensure accurate revenue reporting.
  • Compile and validate weekly Sales Consolidated files and distribute reports to management in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collect, consolidate, and upload monthly budgets from cost center owners to support accurate forecasting and financial planning.
  • Prepare and process standard monthly journal entries, including accruals and prepaid expenses.
  • Analyze financial data of moderate complexity to ensure accurate ledger maintenance and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly and quarterly financial reports as requested by management.
  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Serve as backup support for other team members to ensure continuity of operations and timely completion of deliverables.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain automated accounting processes, tools, and applications to increase productivity and reduce manual effort.
  • Document accounting policies, procedures, and workflows for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain financial records in compliance with accepted accounting policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Contribute to departmental and organization-wide special projects as assigned.
  • Perform additional accounting, financial, and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Maintain strong working relationships across departments to support collaboration and operational effectiveness.
