About The Position

The Senior Accountant provides high level analysis and performs complex accounting tasks to ensure accounting processes are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), IRS and other regulatory agencies. This includes responsibilities related to company financial audits, real estate and lease accounting, and financial statement consolidation. The position is responsible for writing internal accounting memo’s to support/guide the company’s adherence to GAAP as it relates to changes in facts/circumstances or new accounting pronouncements. The Senior Accountant recommends, designs, and implements controls based on policies, provides review and analysis on a variety of areas as assigned. The Senior Accountant routinely interfaces with department/senior management, third party administrators, and auditors in order to provide accounting services and/or answer questions.

Requirements

  • 5 years related experience
  • 4 Year/Bachelors Degree and/or equivalent experience/training
  • Ability to plan and organize
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Stays current with new regulations and accounting pronouncements from the Financial Accounting Standards Board and Private Company Counsel relating to accounting principles and reporting requirements
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Advanced Excel and query skills, with intermediate Word skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under tight time constraints
  • Ability to work productively in an independent setting
  • Ability to deal with complexity, research results and provide reports to Executives
  • Integrity in all dealings with respect for utmost confidentiality

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses
  • Reports organization's finances to management and makes recommendations about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts
  • Ensures financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures per GAAP
  • Prepares accounting memos detailing GAAP research and recommendations
  • Resolves accounting discrepancies and irregularities
  • Ensures accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses, to include tenant/sub-tenant accounting
  • Performs other duties as assigned
