POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Accountant plays an integral role in supporting the finance team by maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and preparing essential financial reports. This position proactively identifies opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce unnecessary expenditure. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Staff Accountant must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and compliance with all applicable financial regulations.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
  • Ability to prepare, analyze and interpret accounting records and draw sound conclusions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports
  • An understanding of US tax regulations

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Month end duties including account reconciliations, creating and posting journal entries, balancing ledgers to subledgers, WIP to P&L balancing, monthly tax preparation and filing.
  • Maintain subcontract and purchase order balances for accurate job costing analysis.
  • Keep customer and third-party portals in compliance with contract projects.
  • Compile data for budgets.
  • Prepare data for audits and policy renewals.
  • Weekly payroll processing for all staff.
  • Assist Controller with other projects and tasks as needed.
