About The Position
Harris County ESD No. 48 is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Finance Specialist to join our team. This position plays a critical role in supporting the organization's financial operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, organizational abilities, and a commitment to accuracy and accountability. Harris County ESD No. 48 is a combination of Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) District, providing services to residents of HCESD No. 48 and Fort Bend County Emergency Services District No. 1. Our service area is twenty-nine square miles located on the west side of Harris County, between the cities of Houston and Katy, Texas. The population is approximately 150,000 persons. The Finance Specialist is an At-Will employee and serves at the discretion of the Fire Chief and the HCESD No. 48 Board of Commissioners.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Business Management
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with government accounting
- Proficiency in financial software (NetSuite or Black Mountain)
- Strong understanding of financial reporting and budget management
Responsibilities
- Assist with the development, maintenance, and monitoring of departmental budget
- Prepare financial analyses, reports, and presentations to support leadership
- Coordinate and manage special financial projects
- Manage disaster grant oversight
- Perform financial oversight functions, including: Credit card reconciliations, Bank statement reviews, Bank transfers and account monitoring
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies and procedures
- Assist with strategic and long-term financial planning efforts
- Collaborate with departments to support operational and financial goals
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Fire Chief
