About The Position

We are looking for a detail-driven Senior Accountant to help keep our financials accurate, timely, and audit-ready. You will own key accounting processes, support month-end close, and partner with leaders across the organization to ensure strong financial controls and clean reporting. If spreadsheets are your love language, we should talk. In this role, the Senior Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and preparing financial statements. This role involves overseeing general accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and budget management. The Senior Accountant will work closely with senior leadership to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as grant management. In addition, this position will play a key role in financial analysis, internal audits, and monthly reconciliations to support informed decision-making and improve financial performance within the FQHC. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This position is located at our Panama City Annex location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, ora relatedfield
  • At least5years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • At least 2 years in a senior accounting or supervisory role
  • Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, budgeting, and grant management.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or other financial systems) and proficiencyin Microsoft Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 7 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • At least 4 years in a senior accounting or supervisory role
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
  • At least 3 years experienceworking in healthcare accounting or within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or nonprofit healthcare organization
  • At least 3 years experiencewith healthcare regulations, including compliance with federal, state, and local requirements (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, HRSA) is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
  • Oversee the maintenance and reconciliation of the general ledger,ensuring thatall transactions are accurately recorded and classified.
  • Assistinthe development of budgets, financial forecasts, and financial planning, working closely with department heads to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Manage accounts with payable and receivable processes, ensure timely processing of invoices and collections, and ensure accurate financial records.
  • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as FQHC-specific policies.
  • Manage and track grant funding, ensuring that all financial reports and documentation meet grantor requirements and deadlines.
  • Assistinthe development and implementation of internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Prepare financial records and support audits, working with external auditors to ensureaccurateandtimelycompletion of annual audits.
  • Conduct financial analysis and reporting toidentifytrends, performance indicators, and areas for improvement, providing recommendations to senior management.
  • Ensure that all financial processes comply with healthcare regulations, including tax laws, accounting standards, and FQHC-specific requirements.
  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed, and assisting with their professional development.
  • Assistin special financialprojectsassigned by senior leadership, such as system implementations, process improvements, or policy updates.
