About The Position

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the financial health and operational excellence of Tasman by ensuring the timely and accurate completion of accounting functions, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities. This position works closely with the Controller and CFO to support accounting operations, analyze financial results, develop process improvements, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growing organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years of accounting experience in a fast-paced, mid-sized organization
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to research, interpret, and apply accounting guidance
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience working with accounting and financial systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
  • Positive attitude and adaptability in a dynamic environment
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification or actively pursuing CPA designation
  • Experience within engineering, consulting, environmental, construction, or related industries

  • Experience supporting audits, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Support the accounting team in meeting financial reporting deadlines and maintaining accurate financial records
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports for executive leadership
  • Investigate and resolve material variances and discrepancies
  • Assist with financial statement preparation and reporting requirements
  • Identify trends and provide recommendations based on financial analysis
  • Lead portions of the monthly financial close process, including journal entries and accruals
  • Maintain prepaid accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations and monitor daily banking activity
  • Support the monthly billing cycle and help resolve billing-related issues
  • Assist with weekly check run processing
  • Support monthly A/R aging reviews and assessment activities
  • Ensure compliance with established accounting policies and internal controls
  • Interpret and implement accounting guidance related to new accounting standards or business changes
  • Identify accounting, reporting, and internal control risks and recommend solutions
  • Lead accounting projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Evaluate existing workflows and recommend efficiencies and best practices
  • Coordinate and assist with annual audits and supporting documentation
  • Support year-end reporting activities, including 1099 preparation
  • Work collaboratively with departments across the organization
  • Assist leadership with special projects and operational initiatives as needed
