About The Position

Made In is the leader in the digitally-native kitchen space, bringing chef expertise and centuries-old cookware manufacturing techniques to craft professional-quality kitchen tools for the home and professional cook. Backed by renowned chefs and featured in major publications, Made In is experiencing rapid growth. We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our accounting team at our Austin, TX headquarters. Reporting to the Controller, this role will be instrumental in leading projects to identify business opportunities, improve information delivery to investors and the Board, and support the company's expansion.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles.
  • Proficiency with NetSuite and Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent communicator who is skilled at building cross-functional relationships.
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently and also collaboratively.
  • Ability to work full-time at Austin, TX headquarters (St. Elmo).

Nice To Haves

  • CPA a plus.
  • Experience in consumer products and with global companies.
  • Experience with Avalara or similar sales tax software.
  • Familiarity with process automation and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and record monthly revenue journal entries across an omni-channel environment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with ASC 606.
  • Reconcile revenue-related balance sheet accounts, including deferred revenue, sales returns/allowances, and gift card liabilities.
  • Analyze sales channel data (e-commerce platforms, wholesale orders, POS systems) to ensure revenue is recorded completely and accurately.
  • Support reserve calculations for returns, refunds, and discounts, and monitor trends against historical assumptions.
  • Oversee daily AR operations, including invoicing, cash application, collections, and customer account maintenance.
  • Monitor aging reports and partner with sales leaders to resolve delinquent accounts and billing disputes.
  • Review customer contracts to ensure accurate invoicing and revenue treatment.
  • Track and report key A/R metrics, including DSO and collections performance.
  • Own monthly inventory close activities, including reconciling inventory sub-ledgers to the general ledger across multiple warehouses/3PLs.
  • Analyze cost of goods sold (COGS), landed cost, and inventory valuation adjustments.
  • Partner with Operations to investigate and resolve inventory variances, cycle count discrepancies, and shrinkage.
  • Assist with excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory reserve calculations and periodic physical inventory counts.
  • Assist with AI scripts/flows, system upgrades, and automation initiatives related to billing, revenue, and receivables.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and accounting policies.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen controls and scalability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve close efficiency, reporting accuracy, and internal controls.
  • Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as assigned.
