About The Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial reporting and accounting operations. This role supports financial statement preparation and review, regulatory reporting, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, audit coordination, and financial analysis. The position also improves accounting processes and internal controls, mentors accounting staff, and ensures compliance with GAAP, NCUA, and other regulatory requirements while supporting timely and accurate financial reporting. Requirements

  • Five years to eight years of similar or related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Seven (7) years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) (Advanced)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations from NCUA and other applicable regularity bodies.
  • Prepare the Call Report and other regulatory filings.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to management for decision-making.
  • Review and improve accounting processes, internal controls, reconciliations, and operational efficiencies.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and provide required documentation.
  • Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivables, prepaids, and fixed assets.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records while maintaining timely internal and external financial reporting.
  • Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, providing oversight, feedback, and review of work completed by staff accountants and accounting specialists.
  • Support all accounting functions throughout the fiscal year, including year-end close activities.
