About The Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for full-cycle accounting across a portfolio of selected entities. The role plays a key part in month-end close and financial reporting, while also contributing to FP&A functions, job costing reviews, and ERP systems support. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, a process-improvement mindset, and comfort working within and alongside modern accounting systems and AI-assisted workflows. Requirements

  • University undergraduate degree with a major in Accounting
  • Minimum of 4 years’ accounting experience (full-cycle or accounting firm experience)
  • Strong Excel proficiency is mandatory (e.g., PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS; macros not required)
  • Bilingual (French & English), written and spoken
  • Strong attention to detail with a high standard of accuracy
  • Strong work ethic; able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work independently; self-motivated, adaptable, and proactive
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset; willing to support others as needed

Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle accounting for select companies, including maintaining accurate general ledger records and supporting schedules
  • Prepare bank reconciliations independently and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner
  • Manage billing and cash collection activities for selected entities, including preparing billing applications, issuing invoices, applying receipts, monitoring outstanding balances, and following up on discrepancies as required
  • Record required adjustments including month-end accruals, journal entries, and corrections to general ledger allocations.
  • Prepare and file monthly GST/QST returns accurately and on time.
  • Prepare basic financial statements independently (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and supporting schedules); identify and investigate variances as needed
  • Prepare regular and recurring reports as requested for both internal and external users
  • Support year-end activities, including preparation of working papers and responding to auditor/government audit requests as required.
  • Process and manage chargebacks across many entities; take ownership of improving the efficiency and structure of this process
  • Prepare and assist with forecasts and budgets for real estate entities
  • Review the accuracy of project forecasts provided by the construction project teams
  • Assess job cost compliance against budgets and standard recording procedures
  • Prepare project reconciliations on an ad hoc basis.
  • Develop a thorough working knowledge of the ERP system (Premier Construction Software), including its intricacies across multiple entities, to serve as a support resource.
  • Support the rollout and ongoing use of AI-assisted tools and automation workflows within the finance team
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives, including helping to build and refine structured workflows that reduce manual effort across the team
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis as requested independently
  • Provide analytical support by summarizing trends, explaining variances, and assisting with management reporting as required.
  • Support the preparation of management presentation materials (e.g., slide decks)
