About The Position
Baptist Medical Center is hiring a Senior Accountant for its Finance and Accounting Team at Southbank Plaza in Jacksonville, Florida. The role supports the accuracy and integrity of financial records and provides timely, accurate financial data for decision-making and Baptist Health’s continued growth. Work includes managing fixed assets and work-in-progress updates, reviewing and processing capital requisitions, meeting monthly closing schedules, preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling accounts payable and materials, compiling monthly statistical and sales tax reports, and supporting audit preparation and reporting related to property, plant, and equipment.
Requirements
- Over 5 years of accounting experience.
- Bachelor of Science degree required.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership appropriate to a senior-level accountant.
- Prepare General Ledger journal entries using information from various entity systems to record monthly revenue and expenses.
- Review General Ledger and financial reports for accuracy, reasonableness, and GAAP compliance.
- Reconcile balances.
- Prepare and distribute month-end financial reports.
- Complete assigned audit and tax work papers accurately and by the provided deadlines.
- Prepare and file accurate and timely city, state, and federal reports as assigned.
- Assist with and participate in inventory counts, cash control audits, and special reporting.
- Handle management questions and requests professionally and promptly.
- Notify management of unexpected financial statement variances and their underlying causes.
- Meet as requested with physicians and leadership to review compensation formulas and financial activities.
- Manage fixed assets and work-in-progress updates.
- Review and process capital requisitions and ensure monthly closing schedules are met.
- Reconcile accounts payable and materials.
- Compile monthly statistical and sales tax reports.
- Support audit preparation and reporting related to property, plant, and equipment.
