Requirements

  • Completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, or CMA)
  • 5 or more years of related accounting experience, specifically with preparing financial statements and analysis of variances, financial data, and reconciliations
  • A basic understanding of indirect and income tax considerations to support with compliance
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skills
  • Strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to meet set deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Agresso/Unit 4 ERP
  • Experience in a professional services environment
  • Experience with Enterprise Data Warehouse, Microsoft Fabric and Copilot, or other AI tools
  • The ability to write or speak in French

Responsibilities

  • Understand the Firm’s organizational and financial reporting structure including all relevant accounting processes and systems
  • Assist with preparation and review of monthly financial statements
  • Analyze income and expense statement accounts for significant budget and month-to-month variances
  • Analyze balance sheet accounts for large month to month variances
  • Review and/or perform complex account reconciliations
  • Play a key role in month end/year end processes including fixed assets, year end rollover, cost allocation, intercompany transactions, indirect taxes, prepayments and accruals
  • Prepare, post, review, and approve journal entries and AP invoices requiring approval
  • Prepare T5013 schedules for partnership, and T2 corporation tax returns
  • Collaborate with other team members and communicate in response to queries from our regional and non-practice offices
  • Prepare documents for auditors and respond to Stats Canada surveys
  • Assist with budgets and business analysis
  • Lead ad-hoc projects, as assigned
  • Monitor internal controls and make recommendations for improvement
  • Maintain strong working relationships and respond to financial statement and accounting queries from National Office team members and Partners
  • Develop a basic understanding of MNP’s services, businesses, and industry
  • Attend internal MNP courses to further develop your financial accounting knowledge
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
