About The Position

The Senior Accountant supports the Finance Department by performing advanced accounting functions and maintaining the integrity of Beloit Health System's general ledger. Performs a critical role in financial statement generation for management and leadership, and defends statements during accounting audits. Submits and files required federal and state forms and responds to miscellaneous financial requests. Plays an integral role in budget development and annual planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of progressive healthcare accounting experience required.
  • Experience with ERP financial systems required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required, with advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize multiple concurrent deadlines, including month-end close, audits, and regulatory filings.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of financial data, payroll information, and other sensitive organizational records.
  • Adhere to Beloit Health System financial policies, accounting standards (GAAP), and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in continuing professional education and remain current on changes in accounting standards, healthcare finance regulations, and ERP systems.
  • Available to support urgent financial requests, audit inquiries, or deadline-driven tasks outside of standard scheduled hours as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
  • Health System accounting experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and ensure the integrity of Beloit Health System's general ledger, including review and posting of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in accordance with GAAP and organizational policy.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management and leadership, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close process, including reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, intercompany balances, and sub-ledger to general ledger agreement.
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of the annual operating budget and long-range financial plan, including compilation of departmental inputs and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and file required federal and state regulatory forms and reports, including IRS filings, cost reports, and other compliance-related submissions as assigned.
  • Support external and internal audit processes by preparing schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and providing documentation to substantiate financial statement balances and estimates.
  • Perform analysis of financial results, identifying and explaining variances to budget and prior year; prepare narrative summaries for leadership review.
  • Assist in the evaluation and optimization of ERP and financial reporting systems; serve as a departmental resource for system-related questions.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff as directed by the Finance Director.
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as requested by Finance Director or CFO.
  • Coordinate with department managers on budget questions, expense coding, and financial policy compliance.
  • Support preparation of board-level financial presentations and materials.
  • Maintain organized and audit-ready financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Cross-train on other Finance Department functions to support continuity during staffing changes.
