About The Position

The Senior Accountant works within the Accounting Department with the objective of processing journal entries and reconciliations for financial transactions to facilitate management reporting. The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller and interacts with the CEO, CFO, VPs, Directors, Managers, Supervisors, and Vendors. This is a full-time, exempt regular position located in, Oxnard, California. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is overtime and benefits eligible.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent in accounting required.
  • 3-5 Years experience required.
  • Committed Christian in good standing in a local church.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently in order to communicate with vendors, and other outside customers.
  • Must be able to learn new software quickly, handle multiple tasks, and utilize e-mail to communicate.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare general ledger entries for reconciliations and daily banking activities.
  • Approve daily sales journals.
  • Enter daily contributions.
  • Approve invoices in Mineral Tree up to a maximum amount determined by Controller and CFO.
  • Prepare weekly proposed manual and mineral tree disbursements, upload check positive pay file to bank.
  • Setup new vendors in Intacct.
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll journal and monthly benefit invoice journal.
  • Enter general ledger entries for month end including Accounts Payable accruals for utilities, fuel, recurring contracts, and other payables into Intacct.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and prepare required journal entries.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare required journal entries.
  • Maintain monthly fixed assets and Depreciation.
  • Prepare selected A/P payments including support and enter in Mineral Tree for payment (CallTower/T-Mobile, Jiffy Lube Fleet, Home Depot, FB VISA and others as needed).
  • Prepare sales tax return schedule and submit to Controller for approval.
  • Assist Controller with review and preparation of 1099 information returns.
  • Assist Controller with annual property tax exemption filings.
  • Assist Controller with preparation of Business Property Statements.
  • Assist Controller with collection of data requested by the auditors, Controller, CFO and VP of HR during annual audits.
  • Assist CFO with annual budget process.
  • Ad Hock reporting for Controller and others.
  • Assist daily with the answering of the front door and greeting visitors while the reception position is unavailable or out of the office.
  • Serve as backup for the Staff Accountant, Accounts Payable Associate during periods of vacations or illness in the department.
  • Assist the Controller with training new staff members.
