About The Position

Instawork is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their accounting team, reporting to the Accounting Manager. This role involves a blend of hands-on accounting tasks and project-based work focused on improving systems and processes. The position is based in the San Francisco office and is suited for a motivated accounting professional in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment, who possesses technical accounting expertise, operational excellence, and a passion for process transformation and innovation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, mix of public accounting or public company and industry experience highly preferred.
• Experience with NetSuite is desired.
• Proactive, detail-oriented go-getter with strong critical thinking and organization skills.
• Excellent understanding of GAAP-compliant accounting policies, procedures and financial statements.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and dynamic workload, with a "roll-up-your-sleeves and get going" attitude.
• Strong communication skills who works well across teams.
• Advanced excel and google suite skills.
• Proficiency in using AI and the mindset to use AI to improve processes.

Nice To Haves

• CPA strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end close procedures, including preparation of monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and supporting schedules.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies while maintaining strong internal controls and audit readiness.
• Assist with the annual audit process; readiness and execution, including preparation of supporting audit schedules and account reconciliations.
• Review and research technical accounting issues and drive to resolution.
• Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Biz Ops (Analytics), Product, IT and Legal teams.
• Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline accounting workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve scalability.
• Leverage technology, data analytics, and AI-enabled solutions to enhance reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and financial insights.
• Assist with implementation and optimization of financial systems, accounting tools, and reporting processes.
• Support special projects and ad hoc accounting work as needed.
