About The Position

As a Senior Accountant at Shar Music, you’ll play an important role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records while supporting our Finance team and the broader organization. You are a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys solving problems, analyzing financial information, and taking ownership of your work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required.
  • 3–5 or more years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.
  • Experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Experience preparing or supporting financial statements and financial reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy while meeting deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with inventory accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in a retail, eCommerce, distribution, manufacturing, or other inventory-based environment is a plus.
  • Experience with NetSuite or another ERP system strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with banking platforms, payment processors, or eCommerce accounting is a plus.
  • Experience assisting with audits, tax preparation, or external accounting firms is a plus.
  • CPA, CPA candidate, or additional accounting certification is a plus.
  • Have an interest in music, education, or the arts (a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and complete general ledger accounts and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, reclassifications, and other adjusting entries.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Take an active role in the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Review financial statements and account activity for accuracy, unusual fluctuations, and inconsistencies.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Analyze financial results and provide explanations for significant variances and changes.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including reviewing transactions, reconciling balances, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, merchant accounts, and other cash-related accounts.
  • Assist with inventory accounting, including inventory reconciliations, adjustments, valuation, and investigation of discrepancies.
  • Work closely with Purchasing, Warehouse, Production, Sales, and Operations to understand and resolve accounting issues related to inventory and business transactions.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts and reconciliation of physical inventory to system records.
  • Support accounting for product costs, freight, duties, landed costs, and other inventory-related expenses.
  • Assist with fixed asset accounting, depreciation schedules, and related reconciliations.
  • Assist with sales tax, use tax, and other accounting and compliance-related activities as needed.
  • Prepare schedules, reports, and documentation requested by external accountants, auditors, tax professionals, or other third parties.
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial records in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
  • Help develop, document, and improve accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reporting, automation, and overall efficiency.
  • Assist with ERP system maintenance, accounting system cleanup, and financial data integrity.
  • Utilize NetSuite and other company systems to research transactions, prepare reports, and support accounting functions.
  • Provide financial and accounting support to the Director of Finance and leadership team.
  • Assist with special projects, financial analysis, reporting, and other accounting initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and company information.
  • Other duties as assigned.
