About The Position

The Senior Accountant will independently manage the financial and general ledger accounting for the Group, including general ledger accounts, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, in close coordination with the team. This role involves preparing monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with the German Commercial Code (HGB) and compiling them independently, including consolidation entries for the entire corporate group. The position also includes processing payroll for multiple countries, handling provisions, accruals, fixed asset accounting, and day-to-day payment transactions. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the monthly advance sales tax return and the quarterly summary report, serving as the primary point of contact for auditors and tax advisors, and overseeing tax audits as well as the preparation of tax returns. Additionally, the role requires close collaboration with the Controlling team on monthly investor reporting, contributing to process and system optimizations, maintaining and further developing the Accounting Manual, and acting as a technical point of contact for the Junior Accountant.

Requirements

  • Completed a business apprenticeship with a focus on accounting—ideally as a tax clerk—and received further training to become a financial accountant (m/f/d)
  • Several years of experience in accounting
  • Several years of practical experience in financial accounting—independently performed journal entries, prepared individual financial statements, and gained initial exposure to consolidated financial statements
  • Solid understanding of the German Commercial Code (HGB) and familiarity with sales tax law
  • Proficient in using DATEV and MS Office
  • Work independently and in a structured manner, have high standards for quality, and enjoy actively helping to shape a modern finance department
  • Fluent in German and English—both written and spoken

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of IFRS is a welcome plus
  • Experience with a CPM/FP&A tool such as Lucanet, Tagetik, or Anaplan is a plus
