About The Position

The Senior Accountant will direct the accounting functions including accounts payable, cost accounting, general accounting, payroll, and financial reporting. Further responsibilities are to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all functions leading up to and including financial reporting.

Requirements

  • BS degree in accounting.
  • Must be able to perform and/or supervise all functions of the Accounting Department.
  • Must be organized, have the ability to analyze accounts, and have good communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including advanced data functions in Excel.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel & Word and be able to adapt to the current Accounting software.
  • Confidentiality, accuracy, timeliness, and attention to detail are a must.

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years of experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and timely periodic financial results.
  • Report the monthly/YTD analyzed financial results for Managers, VP Manufacturing and EVP Accounting/CFO.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze a monthly spreadsheet to allocate expenses by manufacturing line.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze a monthly/YTD spreadsheet to compare sales, expenses, and profits.
  • Create annual budget spreadsheets.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze weekly spreadsheets to report the efficiency/productivities and gainshare tracking.
  • Track and audit authorized capital spending and report projects complete for capitalization.
  • Monitor and safeguard company inventories and equipment.
  • Serve as a contact and representative between GDLP and state & local government taxing authorities.
  • Plan, organize, staff, control and supervise the direct accounting activities.
  • Guide, direct, motivate and evaluate all direct and indirect subordinates to ensure timely accomplishment of departmental goals and responsibilities.
  • Maintain professional competency and awareness. Keep abreast of changes in business, economic, regulatory or technical trends which may affect the department.
  • Request and assist in the development and implementation of automated cost-effective systems to improve departmental efficiency.
  • Other activities as appropriate or requested.
