Senior Accountant

IruMiami, FL

About The Position

Iru is seeking a Senior Accountant with strong accounting fundamentals and a builder mindset. This is a hands-on role responsible for core accounting tasks while also contributing to the development of a more automated and scalable Finance function. The position involves month-end close, multi-entity accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting, with a focus on improving existing processes through technology, automation, AI, and LLMs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong hands-on experience in month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience operating in a fast-paced accounting environment.
  • Experience with multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, and consolidated financial reporting.
  • Hands-on experience implementing, migrating, integrating, or significantly improving an ERP or accounting system.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills, with the ability to work with large, complex datasets and connect information across multiple systems.
  • Demonstrated experience automating accounting or Finance workflows—you can point to processes you personally helped build or redesign.
  • Practical experience using AI or LLM tools to improve how you work, analyze information, or execute accounting processes.
  • A builder mentality: you don't just execute a process—you look for ways to make it simpler, faster, and more scalable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to operate independently in an evolving environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SQL, Python, APIs, or similar tools.
  • CPA or CPA eligibility is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience modernizing an accounting function, implementing an ERP, automating reconciliations, building AI-assisted workflows, eliminating painful spreadsheet processes, connecting systems, or materially shortening the month-end close.

Responsibilities

  • Own key areas of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of assigned accounting areas, from understanding the underlying accounting and source data through close execution, reconciliation, and ongoing process improvement.
  • Support accounting across multiple U.S. and international entities, including intercompany transactions, eliminations, consolidations, and foreign currency.
  • Ensure accurate and consistent accounting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
  • Support financial reporting, audit requests, and technical accounting matters as needed.
  • Partner across Finance, Payroll, People, Legal, and other teams to resolve accounting issues and improve upstream processes.
  • Identify manual, repetitive, and error-prone accounting processes, understand the underlying business and accounting requirements, and design more scalable solutions using automation, AI, and better systems.
  • Build automated account reconciliations that pull together data from multiple systems, identify exceptions, and reduce manual review.
  • Automate recurring journal entries, accrual calculations, prepaid schedules, and other components of the month-end close.
  • Build AI-assisted workflows to review transactions, investigate reconciliation differences, analyze variances, and summarize unusual activity for Accounting review.
  • Develop automated flux and variance analysis that identifies material movements and helps Accounting quickly understand what changed and why.
  • Play an active role in ERP implementations, system migrations, integrations, and other Finance transformation initiatives.
  • Create close dashboards and workflows that provide real-time visibility into close status, outstanding reconciliations, exceptions, and blockers.
  • Use LLMs to turn accounting policies, historical research, and company documentation into tools and data rooms that help the team research accounting questions and consistently apply company policies.
  • Develop self-service reporting and tools that reduce recurring manual requests to Accounting and give stakeholders better access to financial information.
