About The Position

The Senior Accountant, General Ledgers, will be responsible for the accounting policies, procedures and controls associated with general ledgers across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field with emphasis in accounting required.
  • 3+ years of related experience with progressively greater responsibilities required.
  • In-depth understanding of GAAP and accounting experience required
  • Experience with financial data analysis and preparation of financial reports required

Nice To Haves

  • Public companies experience is a plus.
  • Public accounting audit experience is a plus.
  • Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
  • Systems knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics D365 is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly journal entries/reconciliations relating to accounts such as leases, accounts payable and receivables, fixed assets, intangibles, accruals, prepaid expenses and license fees, and other areas assigned.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and applicable disclosures for both internal and external presentation.
  • Full maintenance of Fixed assets including but not limited to: record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions, reconcile balances in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the general ledger, calculate depreciation for all fixed assets, investigate potential obsolescence, and conduct periodic impairment reviews.
  • Remain current with GAAP standards and assist in the assessment and implementation of significant new accounting guidance and policies across the organization.
  • Balance sheet and income statement variance analysis.
  • Perform ad hoc projects as determined by senior management (i.e., ERP implementations).
  • Ensures SOX compliance across accounting functions as part of the day-to-day operational accounting responsibilities.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and ensures consistency of policies/procedures across the company (with deviations as appropriate).
  • Contribute to process improvements in company activities to enhance accounting/finance operational efficiency.
  • Support enhancements to financial processes aiming for increased efficiency and scalability.
  • Manage the internal and external audit requests providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Support internal controls to safeguard the company's assets and prevent fraud.
