Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a complex, multi-entity organization, with exposure to operational accounting, financial reporting, and consolidated financial statements
  • A CPA designation (required)
  • Strong technical understanding of ASPE
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, influence outcomes, and communicate recommendations with clarity and confidence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle accounting for multiple entities and business units, including monthly close, financial reporting, eliminations, FX translation, allocations, and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Support the onboarding and accounting needs of new business units and strategic initiatives as the business continues to grow and evolve.
  • Prepare timely monthly management reports, consolidated and non-consolidated financial statements, variance analyses, commentary, and supporting working papers.
  • Provide guidance and oversight for subsidiary accounting and review work prepared by junior team members and peers.
  • Partner with accounting and cross-functional teams to resolve complex accounting matters and ensure financial reporting complies with applicable standards.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow forecasting, and funding processes, including data gathering, review, analysis, reporting, and coordination with internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement improvements to processes, reporting, policies, systems, and documentation to enhance efficiency, quality, and accuracy.
  • Support financial systems initiatives, including system updates and conversions.
  • Support internal control compliance by identifying control gaps and implementing practical solutions.
  • Support real estate compliance and reporting activities, including filings with BC Land Titles, Alberta Land Titles, and BC Online, trust reporting, and other entity related requirements.
  • Research and prepare technical accounting analyses.
  • Support the year-end external audit by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and required documentation.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop junior team members.
  • Complete ad hoc analysis and projects and support Corporate Accounting team members as needed.
