Our Halifax offices is hiring Senior Accountants for our emerging Public Company practice in the Atlantic region!

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Successful completion of the CFE or working towards a CPA designation.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience working in an accounting firm.
  • Experience using IFRS is mandatory and other financial reporting standards is an asset.
  • Excellent project management, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently, with little supervision and within a team environment.
  • Effectively monitor complex projects on a regular basis to check the progress against deadlines and budget.
  • Dedication and motivation to achieve high standards of client service and professional in the performance of duties.
  • Ability to use a range of techniques to analyze an issue.

Responsibilities

  • Apply KPMG audit methodology and Canadian auditing and accounting standards to plan and execute audit engagements.
  • Lead end-to-end engagement delivery (planning, risk assessment, fieldwork, and completion), ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality expectations are met.
  • Perform and document audit procedures in complex and higher-risk areas, including key estimates and financial statement disclosures, as applicable.
  • Evaluate and test internal controls, identify control deficiencies, and support clear, practical recommendations to strengthen the control environment.
  • Supervise, coach, and review the work of junior team members; provide on-the-job training and timely feedback.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships; communicate proactively to obtain information, resolve issues, and escalate engagement risks and technical matters to Managers/Senior Managers as needed.
