About The Position

BMSS Advisors & CPAs is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead audits, reviews, compilations, and other assurance engagements for a diverse client base. The role works directly with clients and is responsible for delivering quality, accuracy, and compliance throughout engagements. The Senior Accountant prepares and reviews workpapers and financial statements, mentors junior staff, manages multiple engagements, evaluates internal controls and risks, communicates engagement progress and findings, resolves complex accounting and auditing issues, and ensures work meets professional and firm standards and deadlines.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
CPA license or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam.
3–5+ years of public accounting experience focused on audit or assurance.
Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and internal controls.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and audit/accounting software.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients and teams.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree.
CPA license.
Experience with CaseWare or ProSystem fx Engagement.

Responsibilities

Lead audits, reviews, and compilations from planning through completion.
Prepare and review workpapers and financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other applicable standards.
Mentor junior staff and manage multiple client engagements.
Conduct internal control and risk assessments to identify process improvement opportunities.
Communicate proactively with clients regarding engagement progress, audit findings, and recommendations.
Research and resolve complex accounting and auditing issues.
Ensure engagements comply with professional and firm standards and deadlines.
