Sr. Account Manager

About The Position

Our client is a boutique music merchandise company based in Los Angeles, running touring, e-commerce, and retail merchandise programs for artists. Their product was never the t-shirt. It's the expertise, the judgment, and the trust clients place in them to run their merch business better than they could run it themselves. Their clients are ambitious and often last-minute. They need someone thinking ahead of them, not behind them: a real outsourced merch team, not an order desk. Senior Account Managers are the senior leadership presence our client puts in front of every client, vendor, and partner. You are not a project manager who happens to know merch — you are a merchandise expert who runs the account. This role is built around planning, strategy, and leading execution — not personally doing every task. You understand each client's vision for touring, e-commerce, retail, and overall merchandise strategy, translate that vision into a real plan, and then drive that plan across Production, Art, Operations, E-Commerce, Finance, and Touring Logistics — primarily by directing your Coordinator and coordinating with department leads. Ownership of the outcome never gets delegated, even when the task does. This is a big-time role with big-time expectations, and it's compensated like one. The commission structure and equity package reward real ownership and revenue impact — not hours spent in an inbox.

Requirements

  • Merchandise expertise deep enough that no one can out-think you in a conversation about a client's product mix, quantities, or pricing
  • Production timelines known cold — domestic screenprints, embroidery, dyes, and international cut & sew — because you can't build a realistic plan without them
  • Data-driven ordering: past sales, tour routing, venue sizes, e-commerce demand — never blind ordering
  • Expert-level merchandise strategy delivered through a team you direct, not a to-do list you personally clear
  • You anticipate problems before they surface, bring clarity to clients and teammates who are looking to you for it, and know how to lead — motivating the people around you to hit the bar while staying composed when things get tight
  • Reachable during business hours (9:00 AM–6:00 PM PST). A genuine client emergency, such as a problem at a show or an urgent same-day issue tied to an active project, requires a response regardless of day or hour.

Responsibilities

  • Client Strategy & Relationship Ownership — kickoffs, planning conversations, business reviews, and anything involving vision, money, or risk
  • Cross-Departmental Leadership & Direction — directing your Coordinator and department leads, and stepping in the moment something needs a senior call
  • Strategic Planning & Revenue Generation
  • Executing on CEO-issued directives — sales goals, artist-specific incentives, or strategic initiatives — by building the plan and mobilizing the relevant internal teams to hit them
  • Projections, Pricing & Margin Strategy — setting the plan and the numbers behind it: margin, pricing, order quantities, product mix
  • Tour Strategy & High-Level Oversight — building and delivering a data-backed forecast, using prior tour sales, margins, and market data, before any tour merchandise line, creative direction, or production work begins
  • Production & Timeline Planning (owning the plan, not the paperwork)
  • e-Commerce Strategy & Oversight
  • Product Development — owning non-standard or custom product builds until client approval, in partnership with Production and vendors
  • High-Level Creative & Business Problem-Solving
  • Brand Protection & Client Satisfaction
  • Escalation Point & Final Decision-Maker — the point of escalation the second a project is off track, not the first responder to routine questions
  • Owning the post-tour narrative and client conversation: what worked, what to change, and what it means for the next run
  • Full accountability for the outcome, regardless of who touched the task
