About The Position

Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) is seeking a Senior Account Manager, Employee Health & Benefits, to manage a dynamic and varied workload that involves balancing client service, compliance, and strategic planning. This role requires addressing new client inquiries, providing status updates, and escalating issues as needed. A key focus is maintaining strong client relationships through regular check-ins and ongoing communication with carrier representatives to clarify coverage, resolve issues, and stay informed about carrier guidelines and legislative changes. The Senior Account Manager will advise clients on the operational, financial, and risk-transfer implications of various funding arrangements (level-funded, fully insured, ASO), coordinate with carriers and administrators for billing and reporting, and support cost-modeling during renewals. Compliance activities include coordinating Form 5500 filings and advising on PCORI fees, Medicare Part D, Section 125, ACA, and COBRA. The role also oversees enrollment and renewal processes, including benefit confirmation, vendor coordination, and preparing materials for open enrollment. Gathering claims data and employee feedback, requesting proposals, and participating in client and prospect meetings are also part of the responsibilities. This position requires a continuous balance of day-to-day service, strategic thinking, and ongoing learning to deliver accurate, compliant, and responsive support as the primary client contact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and related training
  • 5+ years of relevant insurance industry experience
  • Strong client relations skills; including excellent communication skills and service orientation, cooperative nature, and tactfulness to resolve client and company problems
  • Understanding of multiple funding mechanisms to include fully insured, level funded and ASO.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a dynamic and varied workload involving client service, compliance, and strategic planning.
  • Address new client inquiries promptly and provide regular status updates.
  • Escalate issues to the Account Executive when necessary.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through scheduled check-in calls and ongoing communication with carrier representatives.
  • Clarify coverage details, resolve issues, and stay informed about carrier guidelines and legislative changes.
  • Advise clients on the operational, financial, and risk-transfer implications of multiple funding arrangements (level-funded, fully insured, ASO).
  • Coordinate with carriers, stop-loss providers, and third-party administrators to manage billing, premium reconciliation, risk corridors, and funding-related reporting.
  • Support cost-modeling and scenario analysis during renewals.
  • Help clients weigh trade-offs between cash flow, risk exposure, and plan flexibility when evaluating funding strategies.
  • Coordinate Form 5500 filings and advise clients on PCORI fees, Medicare Part D, Section 125, ACA, and COBRA requirements.
  • Meet regularly with producers and Account Executives to ensure all renewal requirements are met.
  • Oversee enrollment and renewal processes, confirming benefits, rates, and employee contributions.
  • Coordinate with benefits administration or enrollment vendors.
  • Arrange carrier training for client HR teams.
  • Prepare benefit guides and presentations for open enrollment.
  • Gather claims data and employee feedback to support renewals.
  • Request updated proposals from carriers when assigned.
  • Participate in quarterly client calls and prospect meetings.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance coverage options.
  • Collaborate with the Account Executive and marketing team to develop competitive renewal strategies.
